1. Cafe Society

Cafe Society has everything. There is a cosy feel to the place and friendly staff. They are one of a few coffee shops where you can get a lovely breakfast – sausage, bacon or egg roll…and if that’s not your thing, they have plenty of other breakfast options. They have tasty freshly made sandwiches, salads and amazing cakes, with gluten free options. They also cater for vegans. Friday and Saturday tapas evening menu is also highly recommended.

2. The Craftsman Company

This is a cosy yet stylish cafe. It’s a beautiful place, and being just across from Union Square, it’s a fantastic alternative to the bigger chain coffee shops. The food is lovely and it’s nice to have the option to have a beer and wind down with your lunch, or have tea and cake if you like. This is one of the few coffee shops that open till late and they have music sets some evenings too. It’s a great place to chill out and its dog friendly too, so everyone is looked after!

So coffee shop is locally owned and has a good atmosphere. It doesn’t feel ‘soulless’ like some big brand chains can. The staff are friendly and there is a fantastic variety of options on the menu throughout the day. They also host ‘pop up’ nights on the last Friday & Saturday of the month, which focus on different types of street food. Something different for a date night or a catch up with friends.

4. Bev’s Bistro

This is a very small bistro on Holborn Street. They have possibly the best scones in Aberdeen (served with cream, jam & strawberries). They also do fab soups & main meals and everything is gluten free. It’s open a little later till 8pm on Fridays & Saturdays. They are doing Christmas parties with BYOB. Try Bev’s Bistro for a cosy evening with exceptional food.

5. Cafe Harmony

A beautiful place with a perfect mix of coffee shop & restaurant, serving cake & coffee, tasty lunch or a superb dinner with wine. The mussels in white wine sauce and the desserts are highly recommended.
